Lake Norman Living

Lake Norman, North Carolina is an amazing lake community with many things to do for people of all ages and has great housing options. It is located less than 25 miles north from Charlotte, Lake Norman is easy for folks to reach. Lake Norman is one of the reasons why the Charlotte community is a great place to live.

Lake Norman is the largest lake made by man in the Carolinas. Duke Energy created the lake in 1963 and it was named after the former president Norman Atwater Cocke. The lake is about 34 miles long and 9 miles wide and is fed from the Catawba River.

One of the most popular places where folks visit is Lake Norman State Park. It has 33 acres of land for folks to enjoy and lake access. A number of people bring their boats to go boating, fishing or water skiing. In addition to this, people can rent canoes and pedal boats. There are camps sites to go camping for a few nights. A beautiful beach provides kids and adults a great swimming area. There are heated showers, lockers and a concession stand close to the beach. There are paths throughout the Park for people to hike. It is a fine place to go mountain biking with over 12 miles of trails to ride. There are picnic tables and grills around the area for people to have a picnic. There are various events at the Park for kids and adults to enjoy. The Community Building hosts a number of such events. It has a fireplace, conference-sized room and kitchen.

 

Lake Norman is a terrific lake to catch fish. There are plenty of nooks and crannies in the lake that can be the perfect place to fish. Among the fish to be caught, include largemouth bass, bluegill, crappie, white bass, perch and more.

Towns close to Lake Norman include Huntersville, Cornelius, Davidson and Moorsville. Each town has experienced growth within the last 30 years. Huntersville has a number of shops, restaurants and national brands that do business in town. On Main Street, folks can shop at boutiques, book stores, clothing stores and more. Cornelius offers residents and visitors retail locations such as the Southlake Shopping Center. Jetton Park is a wonderful place for families and individuals to enjoy outdoor recreation including tennis, biking, swimming and much more. Davidson is a small college town with various shops and restaurants. Moorsville has a golf course, an animal park called Lazy 5 Ranch and much more.

Lake Norman is a huge lake surrounded by thriving communities. People like living in the area and being close to Charlotte because it brings together the best of lake life and city amenities.
